Ubuntu will release new version with the name Lucid lynx ( Ubuntu 10.04 LTS), in this version some feautres will add in ubuntu core. It will be an LTS release which means that it will be supported for atleast 3 years for the desktop and 5 years for the servers. Ubuntu 10.04 aims at 10 second boot time!
“This is something that we get by virtue of the fact that we work with free software, you just couldn’t do this with proprietary software because you don’t have the visibility on the planning horizon,” Shuttleworth said.
It will be exiting to see what features the 10.04 brings for the netbooks other than its ultra-fast boot time.
December 3rd, 2009 – Alpha 1 release;
January 7th, 2010 – Alpha 2 release;
February 4th, 2010 – Alpha 3 release;

April 15th, 2010 – Release Candidate;

For the Lucid Lynx, the development team will focus their efforts on quality and stability! The main plans are to make Ubuntu 10.04 a bug-free operating system and bring quality improvements to the user interface, boot and installation experience and top-notch hardware support. Another essential goal for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) will be to improve the startup speed to a 10-second boot!
Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will be the 12th release of the Ubuntu operating system. But, until then, we have another version that should catch our attention and invade our computers, Ubuntu 9.10 (dubbed Karmic Koala), which will be released on October 29th.
Make sure that you visit our website regularly, starting with December 3rd, when the first alpha will be released, as our hard-working people, here at the Softpedia Labs, will do a full coverage of the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS development process.
