  1. Download Avast for linux disini
Your license key is:…” seperti gambar berikut
    avs6b

  • AVG Antivirus. AVG is popular in Windows. Like most antivirus programs it detects infected files but doesn’t remove the infections. Unusually though, it also doesn’t move infected files to a quarantine folder. There is a more detailed page about Avg in Ubuntu.
  • Avira Antivirus. Requires Java to use the GUI.
  • BitDefender Antivirus. Limited time trial version available apparently but only after filling in a form. BitDefender checks for Windows viruses. There is a community documentation page about it here.
  • Panda Antivirus. I didn’t check this one but it appears to be old and no longer maintained. It used to have some unique & awesome features
  • F-PROT Antivirus for Workstations (home users). Free for personal use. GUI front-ends are available, but may require some manual work. e.g. XFProt. I have not tried the GUI front-ends.

Jaunty in Dell Computers

Ubuntu-9-10-Now-Available-on-Dell-Computers-2

Until now, Dell has been shipping Ubuntu 8.04 (Hardy Heron) with its Linux computers and, frankly, this operating system is more than a year and a half old. Well, thanks to the Dell fanboys and girls who submitted requests to the IdeaStorm project, the computer manufacturer decided to honor its customers’ requests and now you can get your Dell computer with a custom version of Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope).

If you plan to buy one of Dell’s Studio XPS 13, Inspiron 15 or Inspiron 537 machines you will receive a copy of Ubuntu 9.04 preinstalled and ready for use. Unfortunately, the Mini 10 and 10v netbooks will not benefit from this upgrade, so they will be only available with Ubuntu 8.04 or, for the Mini 10v, with the special Ubuntu-based Moblin OS that was announced during the Intel Developer Forum.

Continue reading

Don’t think that Dell just installed an off the shelf copy of Ubuntu 9.04 on its computers; its version has quite a few OEM enhancements added to it. This is what you will get:

· Cyberlink PowerDVD replaces LinDVD as the default DVD player. Also, the Fluendo MP3, WMA and WMV codecs are included and they will work with almost all media players.
· A custom recovery method is provided should you decide to restore the operating system to the state it was when it was shipped. This function is accessible either from the GRUB menu or a DVD/USB key.
· The creation of the recovery disks is possible directly from the installed OS, with the aid of the new Recovery Media Creator. This new utility is able to make recovery DVDs or USB drives, or just provide you with the ISO file. If you cannot use it, the recovery disk images are also available on Dell’s support website.
· GRUB 2 is now used, instead of the old GRUB legacy bootloader. Since Dell has been testing this rewrite of GRUB for quite a while, it is pretty confident that the solution is ready for general use and it will not cause any problems.
· Wireless devices can still pose problems for Linux because of the lackluster driver availability. To mitigate this, Ubuntu 9.04 natively supports all currently shipping Intel and Dell wireless cards.

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS “Lucid Lynx”

lynx

Ubuntu will release new version with the name Lucid lynx ( Ubuntu 10.04 LTS), in this version some feautres will add in ubuntu core. It will be an LTS release which means that it will be supported for atleast 3 years for the desktop and 5 years for the servers. Ubuntu 10.04 aims at 10 second boot time!

“This is something that we get by virtue of the fact that we work with free software, you just couldn’t do this with proprietary software because you don’t have the visibility on the planning horizon,” Shuttleworth said.

It will be exiting to see what features the 10.04 brings for the netbooks other than its ultra-fast boot time.

December 3rd, 2009 – Alpha 1 release;
January 7th, 2010 – Alpha 2 release;
February 4th, 2010 – Alpha 3 release;
March 4th, 2010 – Beta 1 release;
April 1st, 2010 – Beta 2 release;
April 15th, 2010 – Release Candidate;
April 29th, 2010 – Final release of Ubuntu 10.04 LTS.

For the Lucid Lynx, the development team will focus their efforts on quality and stability! The main plans are to make Ubuntu 10.04 a bug-free operating system and bring quality improvements to the user interface, boot and installation experience and top-notch hardware support. Another essential goal for Ubuntu 10.04 LTS (Lucid Lynx) will be to improve the startup speed to a 10-second boot!

Ubuntu 10.04 LTS will be the 12th release of the Ubuntu operating system. But, until then, we have another version that should catch our attention and invade our computers, Ubuntu 9.10 (dubbed Karmic Koala), which will be released on October 29th.

Make sure that you visit our website regularly, starting with December 3rd, when the first alpha will be released, as our hard-working people, here at the Softpedia Labs, will do a full coverage of the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS development process.
